In honor of the 100th anniversary of quite possibly the most perfect cookie on the planet I'm bringing back an old blog that features my recipe ( and some failed attempts) for Mint Chocolate Oreo truffles.
Do you have a special recipe that uses Oreos as the main ingredient?

***Catherine's Mint Oreo Truffles***
I've been seeing this recipe online for a while so I decided this would be a great thing to add to my Christmas baking repertoire which up to this point only consists of gingerbread cookies.
Mint Chocolate Oreo Balls, or truffles if you want to be classy about it, are a no-bake recipe and require only 3 ingredients, that is if you can find Mint Oreos. Which I could not! So I had to do some experimenting to get the mint flavour in there. I used striped peppermint candies for one batch and Creme De Menth for the other. The results are below.
In case you want to give this a try yourself, here are the directions.
Pulverize a bag of Oreo and about 18 striped peppermint candies or small candy canes (maybe less) in the food processor.
Mix in a brick of creme cheese. Chill the dough for an hour so it's easier to work with and then roll into small truffle size balls, then freeze. Freezing them makes them much easier to handle when applying the chocolate coating. It will also keep your white chocolate cleaner for longer.
Variation: You can replace the peppermint candies with a splash (to taste) of Creme De Menthe but I preferred the candy version. Go figure!
***UPDATE: Most of the people around the office here at the Wolf and Kruz preferred the boozy version. Go figure again!
Good luck! It's a pretty easy recipe. I would love to see if anyone can make a more attractive version of these. Even round two doesn't look as elegant as I would have hoped. The video evidence is below.
